Where would you suggest for a Florida summer beach vacation? And how is it there in the summer? Would be for my wife and I. We are middle aged. Interested in laying on a beach, swimming, maybe some snorkeling. Eating good food and not driving around much. I might be interested in a fishing trip, but that isn’t the main thing. We are not into the bar or party scene at all. Looking for a general location, town or beach. Hotel type accommodations. Something quiet and out of the way would be fine if it exists, but we would like to have decent food options. Not necessarily expensive just good food.

Would be flying in.

Does this place even exist. We’ve never even set foot in the state so go easy.

Any of the Florida Panhandle beaches will serve you well. Destin has some pretty good restaurants.

For snorkeling, I’d head to the Keys, or better yet, the Bahamas.

Destin is a tourist trap. Go to Pensacola beach. Look up portifino island resort. Spendy but very nice

No snorkeling though

There are very few beaches in the Keys, and driving some distance to restaurants is required, unless you stay in Key West.

Op mentioned quiet, Destin can be big time busy, and if going to Florida, then actually go to Florida, Destin is just the front door of Florida.

You should go in the spring, Daytona Beach would be a good choice.......

The missus and I love Amelia Island. Lots of beach condos available to rent on airbnb and other sites. No snorkeling that I know of, but good food, relatively quiet, nice old town. etc.

It is humid as hadies down here in the summer. The heck if I would pay one red cent to be here then. Monsoon season and it rains a few hrs everyday. Great place to come and get out of the cold in the winter. Weather is great Dec thru March.
