1. What's the difference from a 110?

2. Did they make these pre-accutrigger?

3. What's plastic on them?

14/114 were gloss blue rifles with Walnut stocks. I've never owned one so I can't tell you if the TG is plastic or not. I'd think it's probably alloy TG and BM made to match the bluing of the barreled action. IDK if they were made pre-accutrigger, but that can be removed if you don't like it by Timney or Rifle Basix.

ADL/BDL styled rifle, gloss blue with maybe not as shiny of a stock as a 700 but still nice.

I think some were hinged floor plate, some blind box.

Bottom bolt release Accutrigger are detachable box mags.

Were made pre Accutrigger as well.

Probably alloy/metal trigger guards for all years.

I bought my sone one off the fire a few years back. His is a accu-trigger, detachable magazine, blued with sites and the wood is very nice. The trigger guard is metal as I recall but I have not looked at it recently and could be mistaken. Shoots as good as it looks, his does not have the accu- stock.

Never seen one with sights but that doesn't mean they weren't made.

Thanks yall. I know nothing about recent Savage rifles other than theyre plastic/inexpensive and shoot in spite of it. If these are wood and metal but still have that accuracy, seems like a slam dunk.

Are the bolts pretty sturdy? Made from a single piece of metal?

I've never had any issue with the bolt, but they are assembled from multiple pieces. They're held together with a big screw on the back of the bolt assembly. If you're that interested in Savage there are several videos on YouTube that'll show you the in and outs of swapping Savage parts.

Bolt is the same as any 110 made.

110, 112, 114 and 116 bolts are the same, different model numbers for different stock, steel configurations.

Not much different than any other bolt by other manufacturers.

Thanks gents. Did watch a few videos. Final 2 questions (because I've read conflicting info): (1) do these come skim bedded? And (2) is the forend tip real ebony or plastic?

Do a little research on bedding.

I would think pillar if anything as most Savages were pillar bedded.

I've read reviews that imply skim bedded and floated and the factory stocks Numerich sells don't appear to be pillared. Other reviews don't mention it at all. Savage doesn't appear to have a "past offerings" section of their website like Winchester.

I have a model 14 22-250 and 114 30-06. Both very accurate. Accutriggers with detachable magazines

Some upper line models came with the accu-stock that had the aluminum bedding block. I believe my sons 114 American is just pillar bedded.

I bought one 15 years ago just to see how they were. Reasonably nice bluing, accu-trigger, this one had a hinged floor plate where you dropped the rounds in from underneath and closed the floor plate. It had a guide in it the fed the rounds up through the center. It shot well, just wasn't for me and I sold it. I was told the guy I sold it to still has it and is a tightwad so had killed several deer with one box of shells.

The last 14 Classic that I saw was a 7MM08 at a gun show a couple of years ago. At first glance they look like a 700BDL. They made them in 250 Savage and 300 Savage for a little while, but they never caught on and now you seldom see one for sale.

The main issue seems to be finding extra/replacement mags for the DBM models. Savage discontinued the 55102 mag.

I owned a savage 114 Classic in 270win. I called savage and I believe they told me it was manufactured in 1994.
Had an oil finished walnut stock, no ebony tip, detachable mag that had the release button on the right side above the magazine protruding through the walnut stock. Mine was quite accurate. I could find no faults. I gave it to a friend who always wanted a 270win.

Love all my savages. Only one i regret getting rid of was the 114 270 i sold my brother and he pawned it and lost it

After this thread I started to search for them. Found them at Abels sporting inc, although not the gloss blue that my sons rifle is but the mat finish beats no mag at all should he loose the original.
