I saw one listed online somewhere without a magazine. Might have been gunbroker.

I wish there was a company that just did lefty actions. Small batch but heavy in service and quality to own the 10-15% of an undeserved market. It may be tough but I'd sure like to see something like an lefty Kimber short action or something along those lines.

I wish Kimber made LH rifles. I was told by the people at Kimber they would never make a LH gun.

Last week, there was one listed on Gunsinternational in .308. A bit rough for $459. It’s gone. There’s another in 6mm on the same sight with a scope for $700. Appears to be in great shape. No connection with the sellers.

And they charge an extra $250 for the left hand model. I was ready to order one until I found that out. It just ticked me off.

I bought one from them a couple of years ago. I guess I just look at it as the price to get what I want.

The only rifle I ever owned that I threw away was a 788. The metal tab that holds the pin that holds the trigger to the action kept on breaking off. Numerous attempts at silver soldering it failed. Took a hacksaw to it and cut the action in half. It shot good but was otherwise a piece of crap.

SIL loves his RH 788's. Has several. I've had one LH 788 in .308. Good shooter. No issue (for me) with the Left Bolt, Right Eject. However, the square corners of the magazine protruding below the stock line, rubbing on my hand when one-hand carrying were a No Go. Sent it down the road...

Wonder how that stock would clean up if refinished.

I think you would be fine if you stripped it all the way down to bare wood and started over. To me, it looks to have had a water based finish applied over an oil based finish, or, an oil based finish applied over a water based finish. Regardless, I do not see any visible defects in the wood that would cause a problem for a total strip and refinish...

The nice thing about a 788 is no checkering , easy to refinish that way. I love my 3 lefties and they all shoot great. I just bought a carbine right handed 788 carbine in 7mmo8. It’s a tack driver to.
