Some people have been stranded in their cars for 15 hrs. Thank goodness those batteries are keeping them warm.

A Tesla can run its heater for about 72 hours.
If they left home with a good charge they'll be good for another 50 or 60 hours.

Is this from the Tesla website? They lie about the range of their cars, so.....

That picture -- and others like it -- show why my late wife and I always carried a couple of old wool army blankets, old wool sweaters and socks, water, beef jerky, hard candy, crackers, toilet paper, First Aid kit, etc., etc. in the trunks of our cars. Only needed the supplies once but they came in handy. I keep my "winter stuff" in my car trunk still. You never know ........

Looks like Texas drivers when we get a 2” snow.

We carry blankets and sleeping bags, usually some water and snacks, paaper towels, TP, etc

Came in handy earlier this year when a land slide closed the road with my wife on the wrong side from home. She spent more than 30 hours in her car waiting for the road to clear. Torential rains, but she was also near a convenience store with restroom facilities and coffee.

She wouldn't have made it without the coffee........

Have a really difficult time believing that. Ive run a heater off of batteries when I lived off grid and it took a lot of battery capacity

I did some checking and this is not correct. The Tesla battery can run the heat for about 7 hours if nothing else is operating. When the battery gets to 20% the heating / AC shuts down. If anything else is running like the traction motors the batteries go south much quicker.

Looking at that photo, a little privacy to go with the toilet paper might be hard to come by. Everybody is probably playing like the homeless people and dumping between the cars.

Southerners who have never seen snow, let alone driven in it.

It's hard to understand for us who grew up with snow but it's very real. I'll never forget a nightmare trip down 95 in Georgia one Christmas. less than an inch of slush and you would have thought you were in a demolition derby at the county fair.

Black ice can be a huge problem here. Any ice is bad because we don’t drive in it much. It’s insane if we have ice you can’t see.

They had about a foot of snow and a handful of tractor trailers and cars got tangled up which stopped traffic. It was snowing at a pretty good clip and a bunch more vehicles got stuck. After several hours, a bunch of dipschits abandoned their cars which clogged things up worse. What's stupid about the whole thing is that the tow trucks couldn't clean things up during the day. That's what I don't understand. Then overnight, the temps went down into the teens and that schit froze solid. I couldn't believe that they hadn't cleaned it up by this morning. Where are those guys from Highway to Hell when you need them.
