Says bring your packable fly rod, protective clothing & eyewear, leather gloves, shotgun & a lunch. 1/4 mile thru Devils club, down a bluff to the river in bear central. Hungry bows, & big. Never seen rainbow fishing like that. Later the Wood River chain of lakes has some big bows but not as hungry. And you have to fly to get there. I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.

Never gets old...just us Have a couple of lakes near by that are part of a river system drainage that offer a few nice ones. However, at 66, and the fact it's a 4 mile hike @ 25 to 30 below looses a little bit of flavor. Spring is coming though. Always enjoy your pictures and video's, Troy. I think Talarik Creek on the north shore of Iliamna or the top of the Naknek River might produce bigger Bows than the Wood River lakes might. There are more Rainbows in those rivers connecting the Wood River lakes but not really huge fish, plenty of dandys though.
