Never having seen
Gunsmoke as a kid, last year I ordered the box set of "The Best of Gunsmoke," and watched it though. I liked it. I think it only included like 10% of all the episodes, spread evenly through all the seasons. I wish I had a source for watching every episode. They don't sell it by complete seasons, though.
