I see in the 2022 Hodgen annual they have LVR listed with the .338 Fed. Has anyone tried it in the .358 Win? How did it do?

Does anyone think it would be an OK idea?

I prefer TAC in 358 Win and would save the LVR for my 30-30, 35 Rem and 6.5 Grendel.

Man, I haven't tried it, but it works excellent in the 223 and other similar rounds that like that burn rate. Might be decent. I'd imagine you could start with 338 Fed data for the same bullet weight and work up. Let me know how you do, cause I like LVR a bunch so it'd be nice to find another place it works well.

I prefer TAC in 358 Win and would save the LVR for my 30-30, 35 Rem and 6.5 Grendel. Love LVR in the 30-30, but LVR is shown with better velocities in the .338 (just like the 30-30) than other powders. Mule Deer used .338 Fed data to experiment with TAC in the .358 Win with good results so since they are so similar I was hoping someone had tried LVR. Side ?: I haven't tried it in the Grendel. How was the velocity and accuracy with it? One interesting thing about LVR is in many loads it gets better velocity with less pressure than other powders commonly used in its application.

Interesting about being good in the .223. If I ever get another, I may have to try it. It looks like I may be in for some experimenting with the .358

It is really good with the 75-77 grain stuff. I get around 2775 with 26 grains and a 77 Sierra TMK from my 20" Tikka a hair less from the 18" AR's. It is usually very accurate as well without alot of fuss. One of my favorites to be honest for the 223/5.56

It works great in the 30.30, and the 338 fed, Faster and more accurate than TAC in those two.

Only problem I have now is getting an assortment of 35 cal bullets. I have Speer 220g FB and Remington 200g RN, but nothing I normally use in the .358n Win. May have to try it in the .356 too

I loaded some 220g Hammer Hunters over LVR. Went from 48g-52g of powder. The 52g load averaged 2590 fps with 8 fps ES. This rifle is a rebarreled Win Mod 88/22"barrel. It normally shoots 1"-1.5" 3 shot groups with just about anything. It was doing that with this powder/bullet combo until the 51g load. Then I shot a .5" group. Have to see if that was a fluke or not. The 52g load opened up to just over an inch.
I tried TAC next but unfortunately the sun was in such a position that the chronograph didn't catch the velocity. The loads ranged from 46g-49g. The groups were a little worse than the LVR until the last load. Then it put 3 rounds into 1 hole not much bigger than caliber size. That is probably a fluke, but still nice to see. Need to load more Hammers to double check and get the velocity. The chono did record one bullet and showed 2402 fps with the 48g loads.
All case extracted easily with the LVR and the case head didn't expand any more than the book loads.

Definitely flukes from yesterday. The rifle is back to shooting normal again.

Isn't LVR close to H380 burn rate? I would say that this is too slow for the 358Win.
