Does anybody know what a Llama 45 ACP goes for. I know someone that's selling one is willing to let it go on the cheap as he needs the cash. I don't know much about them or what they are worth.
Any information you can give me will be appreciated.
Tx

The Llama's were typically cheap knock-offs of the Colt 1911. They were of cheap construction and not worth near the price of a quality 1911.
By the way, in case you missed it, Jeremiah was a bullfrog.

RE: "Llamas ... They were of cheap construction and not worth near the price of a quality 1911." ----------------------------------------------------------------
Yes. But isn't that is the point of buying one? (Especially if you want a 1911 and can't afford to, or don't want to, buy the 'expensive one').
Reports that I have read on Llama 1911's including Kim Du Toit [who put his Llama Mini-Max through a rigorous test trial- where it performed dependably and accurately- and even became his carry piece] and other buyers as well, who purchased Llamas and were pleasantly surprised also expressed praise as regards quality and performance.
Other buyers of Llama .45's were, uh ... less enthusiastic- (actually, more sarcastic)- and of course, cannot be ignored or dismissed. It almost seemed that the pro vs. con ratio was 50-50.
Du Toit made it clear that he was speaking only for his own particular experience as regarding his particular Llama Mini-Max 45. Your experience and your Llama may be something else.
But the way he looked at it, was, if you dropped a LOT of money on a hand gun, what you are buying is 'consistency': That one Kimber Carry-Pro will shoot as well and as reliably as the next Kimber Carry-Pro off the line. For more than a $1000 less- Du Toit's Llama Mini-Max performed pretty well; the one you buy may not.
Also, among the satisfied Llama owners, a few ventured that they would recommend the pistol to the 'casual shooter' as the 'lower price' suggests the necessity of some compromises somewhere- and no one really expects their Llama to go 25,000 rounds.
If your friend wants to sell you his Llama, maybe he will let you take it out and shoot it. If it looks good, feels good, functions good, is fairly accurate ... and you like it- buy it.
(Price? $200, maybe even more?)

Sea Weed , I do not disagree. In fact, I was surprised to find a Norinco 1911 listed on a website the other night as a quality gun worthy of heavy modifications for competition. I remember the Llama's and the Norinco's. They were originally meant to be knock-offs at a lesser price. I wouldn't have one but I have two friends that each have both and they could not be happier. It all depends on what you truly EXPECT from your sidearm.

Thanks Guys. I'm going to try it out this weekend. It's preety clean and seems to be one of the upper grade Llamas. I offered him $140.00 if everything works fine.
Thanks,
Alfredo
