Ive owned 2 different burris 2-7's and two 2-7 redfields.

Ive put away about an equal amount of moose, caribou and small game with both leupold and burris fixed and variable scopes.

Of the two budget 2-7's, i feel the Burris is the better scope.

The click adjustments are so vague on the redfield, its almost as if its plastic on plastic. Theres this weird "no mans land" click, as you begin to make an adjustment.

The burris fullfield has audible, solid clicks. They sound metal on metal. The fullfield has a much larger field of view on both 2 power and 7 power.

Low light: both about equal.

Been slamming the redfield with 200 grain 308 from a 6lb rifle. Its held zero no problem. The focus adjustment did rattle loose once.

Been slamming the 2-7 burris with 225 grain 338 rcm handloads in a 6.4 lb rifle. It has never lost zero.

Eye relief hasnt been a problem with either scope

Sound like bread and butter scopes for just about any American hunter.

About the only criticism I have for the 2-7x35 Burris FFII is that the adjustments are .5 MOA. That is admittedly a very small gripe. Nice scope.

Is the Burris discontinued too?

A shame you can’t get either of these, now.

It’ll be interesting to see if Ruger will have a “budget” version of the 336, in years to come (you could get one for $400-ish, when Remington shut the doors). It’d probably be a $600-ish rifle, if they do, so “budget” scopes that fit well with lever action rifles may not be as in demand a they were just 5-10 years ago. Guess we’ll see...

I wish the Burris was still available. My experience with the Redfield is the same as that of Mainer.

Had both. Mounted them on a 7600 carbine just to see. For whatever reason kept the Redfield and perhaps foolishly sold the Burris. I did find the Burris lacking in eye relief. Can’t argue with what Mainer said

Good luck finding well made basic glass that simply does the job. I can easily figure holdover.

The only negative I have ever been able to find on the older Burris FFII's was the fact you had to rotate the entire rear bell of the scope to change the power setting. It made keeping a flip up scope cap in the right position difficult, but not an issue if you didn't use a cap.

The E1 2-7 had a power adjustment ring, rather than having to turn the ocular like the FF ll.

I didnt care for it though, as the goofy tactical turret caps bit into my wrist when i carried the rifle at the receiver.

I much prefer the lower profile turret caps of the FFll
