The new 2022 Howa catalog is out with some interesting new options: https://www.howausa.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/2022_LSI_Howa_Catalog_LQ.pdfLooks like they are adding 6mm ARC chambering to most of the mini line, although it's a bit of a bummer that they went with an 8 twist instead of just using the SAAMI 7.5 twist. According to Berger's stability calculator that will leave some of the Hybrids marginally stable. They also have some more lightweight carbon stocked models including a 4lb 7oz "Super Lite" in 6.5 CM and .308. I'm glad to see more lightweight options from Howa, maybe they are trying to fill the hole in the ultralight market that Barrett and Kimber seem determined to leave.

Some of those lightweights are interesting. Just wish I could handle one before ordering.

The problem with Howa is that it usually takes a long time for their new products to hit American shores. Having said that, I'd like to take a very close look at one of those sub 5 pounders.

Pretty impressive weights. I believe that is the lightest factory bolt action ever if the weight is true.

The Stalker series with 22” barrel looks like it would balance well. I’m not a fan of 20” barrels.
The regular short action comes with a floor plate which is what I would want, but the mini-action is very intriguing having never held one. One of those in 6mm ARC or 6.5 Grendel could see a lot of use around home with junior hunters and deer, as well as me and coyotes.

Might have to try one of the super lites when/if they become available.

Some interesting offering. I could be onboard for a couple if they offered some rifles in stainless. I don’t understand why they offer nothing in stainless steel. These are practical reasonably priced hunting rifles meant to be carried a lot and hunted hard IMO. Perfect for stainless.

Weird they aren't showing a .223 in the Kuiu offerings.

They must not realize that there are a lot of us that want stainless, not Cerakote on carbon steel. It’s not the same.

Even better than stainless would be if they just offer salt bath nitride inside and out

A 4 lb. 7 oz. .308 would kick like a mule. Looks like they did away with most of the walnut stocked models for 2022. They should get rid of those big, ugly ass detachable magazines.

Howa should offer STAINLESS!
The Alpine would have been great if it were stainless. The mini action in stainless and without the detachable mag would be a nice rifle.
Stainless please

It could be a little frisky, 6.5 CM would be tamer. I weighed my 6.5 Montana at 4lb 13 oz naked after the barrel was trimmed. With a suppressor, light scope and sling it is between 6 3/4 lb and 7 lb, depending on the can, and easy to carry or shoot. The extra weight of accessories reduces the recoil and the suppressor cuts it even more, .308 wouldnt be too bad, but a 6mm CM might be perfect.

Agreed on the magazines. Easier all around handling without a magazine in the way.

Nice, but not compelling for me as I have a Mini Grendel with a floorplate, plus a 18oz stock on order. Only one of the Carbon Stalkers I’ve seen actually available was also a Grendel. Was hoping for the 8” twist .223, but found none.
The dearth of SS is on Legacy, not Howa, AFIK. Have seen SS Minis for sale in Australia. “Business decision”, and a bad one. Of course, when they’re perennially in a backorder situation, there’s not much reason to fret.
What fresh Hell is this?

Now with even more aplomb
