Do you have any direct experience with the 140gr. Barnes Expander load on game? If so, please tell me what you think of this .357 Mag load's performance.

Thanks, RS

No, are we talking deer sized critters? Another to compare with is a hardcast WFN bullet.

I shot a deer back in the day with my 6” 357, loaded with 158 grain factory, jacketed soft-points. I did get the deer, penetration was very poor, even with no bone.

They burrow in like a wood tick.

Expect > 24" penetration on game.

Which brand and load did you use?

I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first

No experience on game, but homemade test media told me i'd shoot any deer or hog with the 140gr Barnes at 1400-1500 fps, the bullets are amazing penetrators.

for many years, I loaded .38 Specials with a 140 grain Sierra JHP over a stiff dose of 2400. Never shot a deer with it but I did take several large hogs. Good penetration, and it killed 'em pretty dead.

Look in the Lever Gun forum here. This round was used to take an elk.
