I bought this recently because 410 ammo was hard to find and my 6 year old uses a single shot 410 for squirrels. My other presses are all single stage MECs (12, 16, and 20) and I found that I like the simplicity of a single stage more than a progressive. I loaded a handful of shells on it and everything seems to be there and work, but it may need some fine tuning.
$250 plus actual shipping, but I'd prefer to trade for a single stage MEC in 410.
Adjusting from 2.5" to 3" on a MEC is easy since the center column is bolted to the base and there are a pair of holes in the center column and a pair of holes in the base. Just unbolt the center column and reposition for the appropriate hole. It's currently setup for 2.5"
Here's a picture of the bolt and the adjustment hole on the front of the base.
I had a PM asking about shipping costs and it looks like it's about 17lbs and the box I have to ship it in is 24"x16"x8" and shipping would be from 22901. I'm happy to ship via UPS, FedEx, or USPS based on the buyer's preference.
I was also asked about crimping. There's a lot of fine tuning that can be done at stations 4, 5, and 6 which all impact the finished product. Here is a picture that shows how my shells looked before, during, and after I made adjustments. The ones on the left are what I settled on while the ones on the right are where I started. These crimps were on federal hulls and are probably as good as I will get them, I imagine a nicer hull like a winchester AA CF could be made nicer. I don't think the squirrels will mind the crimp too much.
