We used to ONLY ship usps but now it’s almost double ups. However, ups is having this odd issue with zip codes and online printing. Oh well. What do you do?

They couldn't turn a profit, if they're life depended on it. Food for thought, Trump wanted to dismantle them.

Honestly all the big 3 suck. Ive had a lot of stuff shipped lately and haven't seen much difference between them all . I'll continue to use USPS because they're close by and they're the only one who hasn't completely lost a package

USPS has the flat rate boxes and envelopes which usually save money and they give you the boxes for free and the tape to tape them up with.
They are more user friendly than UPS because you don't have to type an address label.

The USPS ramped up operations to be Bezos delivery service. All while Bezos built up his own delivery capacity. Covid pushed Amazon across the finish line. The USPS is back to delivering junk mail and the occasional greeting card. It's a sad state of affairs.

Best outfit to ship or receive boxes of bullets, I'm talking about Medium & Large Priority boxes of bullets, something like 65 pounds is the limit... Try that with UPS or FEDEX.

Because of this alone I hope they are not dismantled.

Actually UPS does have their own flat rate packages, now. Not sure about FedEx.

I actually had a pretty great experience at the post office today. I was shipping some bullets that were too big to fit in a small flat rate so I had used a small box that another fire member had shipped some bullets to me in. The sticker from the previous shipping indicated this had cost about $17 for a similar amount of bullets. I brought it to the counter and she says “oh I can get that in a flat rate envelope so it’ll only cost you about $8”

I was intrigued but I’ll be damned if she didn’t proceed to cram my package, box and all, into a flat rate envelope and then tape the [bleep] out of it. It barely fit and there was some tearing involved and it was barely envelope shaped by the end but she got it done and charged me my $8. I was impressed.

Can you ship a rifle via USPS?

I'd rather die in a BAD gunfight than a GOOD nursing home.

Yep, you can ship a rifle USPS. Like with any shipping pack properly and tape heavily no matter the packaging and insure. YMMV, but I have had pretty good luck.

Rifles/shotguns, yes, but handguns cannot go USPS except possibly when shipped by legit FFL?

I can have boxes delivered to my house and the packages picked up. I rarely go to the post office anymore. You can also get a little discount shipping through Pirateship.

Long guns are fine no handguns. Actually USPS rates aren't terrible all things considered on long guns.

If the weight and size allow it, check into the regional rate A and B boxes. The A box is much bigger than the small flat rate box and almost as large as the medium flat rate box although it has a weight limit of 15 pounds where the flat rate is up to 70 pounds IIRC. The price of the A box splits the difference between the two.

Those regional rate boxes were the "secret" deal of the Post Office, I've shipped lots of bullets and brass in those for much less than the medium flat rate boxes. I see the shipping cost for those went up along with all of their rates but you can still save a few bucks on them. You can order them for free from the USPS website.

Ffl dealers USPS ship handguns all the time in flat rate boxes. Way cheaper than 2 day by Fedex or UPS
