Looking for a post-64 Winchester M70 Short Action (right hand). Don't care about which chambering. 22-250, 243, 308, 7mm-08...not going to be fussy. It's going to be a donor.
Must be New Haven made with 2-piece bottom metal.
CRF or push feed, doesn't matter to me. A beat-up Featherweight or Lightweight would be fine. A little rust won't even scare me away. Bruised and battered, fine if it's priced accordingly. Doesn't even need to be a complete rifle or even a complete barreled action. As long as it's a short action, right-handed and has 2-piece bottom metal, mag box, spring and follower I can fix the rest.
If you have one or know a guy (or know a shop), great. If your cousin has one, let him know I'm looking and have cash. If your daughter's boyfriend isn't a douche and he's got one and needs cash to buy her a Valentine's day gift, let me know. I'm looking to make a deal for a project I want to start.

You do realize Winchester did not start making a short action until around 86 or later? Not sure exactly when but it was post 84 at least.

The point is still, I don't want a M70 with a short action cartridge built on a long action. Looking specifically for a short action. Make sense?

They are out there. I just bought a 22-250 made in '84. Came with a $350.00 scope, so I have $350 in the rifle.. If I run across another one, I'll let you know.. They do seem to be harder to find though, as you already know.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA
