Crypto people claim that the intrinsic value in Crypto is its use as a mode of exchange. They don't claim it has any other intrinsic value. If you demonstrate that it's not typically even used as a mode of exchange, you defeat the only argument for it's real worth, i.e., the only thing that's claimed to distinguishes it from Beanie Babies.
