Men - thank you in advance for any and all responses. I'm trying to find the perfect load for a Rem 700 25-06 with a 24" barrel using 100grn Barnes TTSX. I will be using H4350 powder for load development. My question is....Everything I've read says that they like to be seated deeper in the case/further away from the lands. But how much?? My initial loads were about 40 off and none really showed much promise. I started out at 47 grains and ran in half grain increments up to 51. After more reading I see now that I should've went up to 53 grains according to Mule Deer and many knowledgeable others. But the seating depth has me wondering....should I seat them even deeper? Thoughts?

I would look at the Barnes load data and start about 20 off and go deeper.
If you have enough magazine box to get up on the rifling I'd be looking at a more conventional lead/copper bullet and work up to pressure about 10 off then go deeper in 5 thousand increments.

Load to factory length, try them, see how they shoot.

I load 25-06, 6.5-06, 270, 280AI, 30-06, 7mmRM, 300WM, and 338 WM all to 3.34" OAL. They fit in the magazine.

Look up seating depth with Berger VLD. I know it's not the same bullet, but their plan to figure out seating depth makes sense for bullets that might need to jump. You don't have to shoot as many as they say.... seating depth

That was an interesting read on the Bergers, and I suppose could apply to the TTSX too. Thanks for the replies guys.

I have gone to developing via seating depth over powder charges. I simply pick a charge, load to three different depths in 0.04 increments.
POI varies noticeably between them but it has so far worked so that one of these loads yield a nice tight triangle. Oddly enough those triangles were very well centered on target. The other loads might be high and string.
If I want to tinker even further I will now take my starting load with the proven seating depth and try it with .5 grains more powder and .5 grain less.
In truth they are already grouping an inch or less- but ....i am a reloader.
