Saw a scope at a good price on Ebay and was wondering if anybody has dealt with cost and shipping from across the water. Delays? Extra costs? Thanks

I bought my wife a doll that was shipped from the UK, that was several years back. no problems then.
These premises insured by a Sheltie in Training ,--- and Cooey.o "May the Good Lord take a likin' to you"

Just received a box from Australia, it took 2 weeks. It's 240mm x 190mm x 120mm, weight was .50 pounds. $39.00 Australian / $27.88 USA
Appears to be one of those "whatever you can stuff in it" ships for the same flat rate kinda boxes

Likely depends on the size of the box.
Is it coming over on its own - FedEx/DHL/USPS/UPS - probably air and faster than if it's being shipped break bulk as part of a stock order for a distributor to be put into inventory and THEN shipped to you from a US DC/FC.
That's likely to take longer.

Been my experience that the cost of shipping to / from internationally can depend on 'DIM' weight, broker and other added fees, and so on. I shipped packages of cosmetics and hygiene products for a coworker to her parents who were working in China several years ago and the cost to ship with all the added extra fees typically amounted to several times the cost of the products. Coworker's step-dad was working over in China as a safety engineer / consultant in the coal mining industry at the time and the products they liked and wanted weren't available there. Shipped to Canada once in a while, too, same - same, there.
