Looking For Other's Results..Ive Been Shooting The Barnes 80Gr TTSX's in My 25-06. And Not Real Happy With The Results.. One 8 Pointer,One Small Spike And a Small 150 Bear.. Out Of The Three Only The Bear Died In Site. The Eight Was Rutting and Chasing. The Shot was Behind The Rib at 70 Yds And Came To Rest in The Neck. The Deer Ran About 100Yds.. Second Was The Bear. The Bullet Went In Behind The Right Leg and Busted The Heart.Bear Went 5-6 Yds.. But The One That Really Bothers Me Most Is a Small Spike. 75-80 pounds. Deer Was Feeding Right To Left. At Around 60Yds. First Shot Was two Ribs Back. The Deer Dropped Stiff Legged Like Lightning Struck It .. I Gather Up My Pack,Heard Somthing And Looked Up and It Was Coming Down The Ridge. The Second Shot was Through The Neck and Lodged in The left Ham. Deer turned and I Shot it Through Both Hams, And Then Clipped Front Leg as it Was Moving along at a Good Clip..All Down Hill. After 180yds.And 4 shots I Had To Shoot It To Put It Out Of It's Misery.. So 5 Shots..The Only Thing I Can Think Of Is I'm Driving Them To Fast.. Chronograph Shows 3611FPS.. Gonna Move Back To The 115 B.T's .Gun Shoots The 80 into About 1/2" Group.. Ive Got 3 Bullets out Of The Spike and The one Out Of The 8 Pointer. ILL Post Pic in Bit.. .
I have a ULA M-24 in 25-06 22” bbl. I also shoot the 80g ttsx for deer. I have shot approximately 6 bucks at various ranges from40 yd to 350 yds and approximately 18 antlerless deer from 40 yds to 400 yds. All of the deer were shot high shoulder, neck, or low heart shot and they all died where they stood or within 20 yds. I really like the cartridge and I really like the bullet. I think if you hit them in the shoulder/heart area the results may be quicker than lung hits. I’m no expert but this is what works for me. I have to also agree with you on the accuracy of the 80 g bullet…..awesome! Hope this helps. Have a great week.
I bopped my mulie this year at 300 yards with the 80ttsx .257 factory wby load. Right in the lungs and it only took one jump. Probably a shade faster than what you’re loading speed wise.
Have shot 3 deer one of which was a very large bodied buck with the 80gr TTSX's with stellar performance! Deer acted like they were both struck by lightening! These 3 were shot with a 250 Savage. I have shot 2 deer, both smaller does, with them out of my 25-06 pushing them at least 3600FPS with poor results. I have wondered the same if the 06 isn't pushing them to fast? BUT I keep reading where people are having great results pushing them even faster than that.

Pretty interesting stuff. Maybe those petals blowing off so quickly at warp speeds are not doing enough damage. The 100TTSX's at 3600 seem to plant deer on their butts. Maybe they have a bit more integrity to hold onto their frontal area over the 80's?
I just bought some 100 TTSX’s here on the fire. Hopefully I’ll get the 25-06 out shooting again. Last time out with it I used a Hornady SST bullet. It caused a great amount of damage in the entrance and the exit was a 1/4” hole. I was told it might have been an early batch, I don’t know. The trouble with the 25-06 in the distant past, at least by my observation, was the bullets were too fragile or they didn’t open up. After partitions and other better designed bullets came out I bought my first 25-06. I’d think that TTSX bullets would work very well, I’ll see.
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally
My .02, I always shoot for the shoulder with TSX bullets with little to no loss of meat. They gone down like lightning. I agree with what the others have said that the lung shot sets up the run. With soft bullet like the NBT or SST, I always shoot for the lungs and may have a short run, but no damaged shoulder meat full of lead fragments. I really like the TTSX and use it lighter than caliber for best results. The 80gr 257 bullet should be great on the shoulders and anchor any deer.
