I have a lot of rifles that are topped with VX 1 or VX2 optics. I have 6 or 7 of those same scopes sitting in boxes to go on rifles. Now.... I would like to possibly sell some, or swap scopes out on some rifles and upgrade to some better glass for a few rifles. I think for the most part, the best scopes I own are Ziess Conquests, mostly 3-9x40 but I do have a few nicer. Whats out there to upgrade to that is reasonable in price, light (under a pound ideally) and actually in stock? Are there any good sales, promotions or close outs going on?

Leupold says the VX-Freedom is. Remains to be seen. I have one sitting here in the box and another they just shipped out today. Think I'm going to send em to be cerakoted gloss.

Leupold VX 3ci or VX5 or Meopta Meopro 3x10x50 That is if you want clarity early and late. The vx1' & vx2" and freedoms just won't get you there. Been there done that.

Sell off the "in the box" VX-1 and VX-2's (any VX-2 2-7?) and buy a VX-5HD or two.

I’m leaning towards those sub $200 Burris scopes to replace Leupolds. They seem to get recommended a lot.

Standard 3-9x with a plex reticle? Trijicon Huron blows away Leupold. Great glass and far better durability. I also happen to have a nearly new one for sale for if interested. Pm me.

Dang. Mentally, I took post #3 as the over/under before someone said exactly those words! smile

Well the OP also has 3-9 Conquests, and those are actually pretty sweet scopes. In the under $400 for a huntin scope category a guy could do worse than finding another good clean used 3-9 Conquest. I regret not snagging a few more at the end there when you could get them for what, $279 or something crazy like that?!

Other than that I got nuthin’. I have not been keeping track of what’s going on in that category.

If I were you, I'd sell 3 or 4 (those Leupolds will bring surprising $$$ on ebay right now) and get one REALLY nice scope. Why have 7 Camrys in the driveway when you can have 2 Camrys and a Mercedes AMG/other luxury/perfomance dream car?

Ebay scopes have to be for idiots. Prices are insane. Lfcrok is largest seller. xmas time I sold him a plain jane vx6 2-10 with a nick in the objective rim and no box for $700.

Vx 2 is better than vx1. Just Like vx3 is better than vx 2. And 5 is better than 3. Etc….

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

I don’t believe Meopta ever made such a scope. The closest I know of would be the MeoPro 3.5-10x44. In addition the MeoPro line has been discontinued for a while.

All the Meopro scopes are still on their website. Including a 3x9x50. I stand corrected on the 3x10's. They are all 44mm. I have 3.

That guy is a friend of a friend in a town nearby. You wouldn't believe how much he is making on there....
