Hello all!
Anyone have experience with the 62 grain Hornady in a 1-12" twist rifle? I have usually stick with 55 grain and lighter. Will the 1-12' twist stabalize this bullet?
Thanks,
Rick

My 12 twist guns stabilize the Hornady 60 gr SP flat base but not sure on a bt 62. They sure shoot 68 grain bthp's sideways.mb

My Remington 700 SPS Varmint has a 1 in 12” twist and shoots decently with the Hornady 62 gr BTHP, as long as the temperature is above about 70 degrees F. It is not that accurate when temps are in the 40’s and downright terrible below freezing. The 26” barrel adds velocity and when combined with the higher pressures in warm weather, it actually shoots that long boat tail bullet pretty well. I haven’t tried the 62 gr SP yet, but I anticipate it will shoot acceptably well, since it is noticeably shorter than the BTHP. (I already have a bunch of the soft points loaded up, just have to remember to bring some next time at the range.)

I am going to load up a bunch for a prairie dog hunt in early June. I need an accurate load for 62's Boat tails. Not sure what brand they are bought as Midway Repackaged . With the component situation as it is any help would be welcomed. PM me if you want. Thanks Daniel

1-12 should stabilize them if you push them fast enough. What are you loading them in?
