I figure most of you have owned one or still do. Any of you still hunt with one? I know they're out dated, but mine is crazy accurate

Owned a bunch of them everyone was stupid accurate with the right load combo.. which for most was a 240 gr xtp with 85-100 gr prodex RS most also shot the 300 gr XTP good with same load.
Making black powder smoke is a great thing..

I wish I had my old one back!, My buddies bought it when they first came out he killed a bunch of deer with it and a caribou and then I bought it off of him, and used it for about 4 or 5 years and killed some more deer with it in a moment of weakness I sold it. Was a stainless one with the grey lam. Stock.

I still have my old MK-85 stainless, camo stocked synthetic 54 cal, it's my out of state no sabot/no scope elk rifle, it wears a receiver peep sight, 120gr 777 under the 535gr No Excuses bullet, must weigh 6 lbs, carry, shoot and load all day, as others have said, if i locked that thing down in a vise i have no doubt it's shoot ragholers at 100 yards.

Part of the reason they are so accurate is the awesome trigger

Part of the reason they are so accurate is the awesome trigger It does have a great trigger. I don't mind the percussion caps. What I have to watch is the double safety. If you screw the back of bolt out and forget all you get is a click.

I had an LK93 stainless Wolverine for many years. Did the 209 conversion when they hit the market. What an improvement that was!! Killed many a deer with 90 gr Pyrodex Select, a green sabot, and Hornady 240 gr XTP's. Groups at 100 yards were just under 2".

I had one for many years, in fact I think it was my first muzzleloader. I just bought my daughter her first muzzleloader and I can say I do like the beak action and speed breach a lot. I’m shooting an SML now.

I think they're under rated by todays shooters......simple basic design, accurate, reliable and easy to maintain. I've had, and have, many inlines of the break open and bolt action design and, other than the ability to use BH209 or smokeless, they don't offer any ballitic advantage over the good ol' MK85. Here's a version you don't see many of. Another variation that Knight made to try to modernize the MK85............the MK95 that uses .38 plastic cases as primer holders.

I just resurrected my thumb hole wolverine as a back up to my encore which I use bh209 what was the reason it won’t work in the knights?

BH209 requires a sealed breech and hotter ignition than the MK85 will produce.

I have a Knight .45 that haven't fired for a few years.
Going to Colorado hunting deer.
Co: NO sabots The rifle was accurate with power belts which are legal
NO pelleted powder
Irion sights.
What are my options

I have 4 or 5 MK-85s in multiple calibers. The 50s shoot great with 100gr of pyrodex and 250gr saboted bullet.

Lefty Full-caliber .45s are pretty scarce, and of the PBs I looked at, one requires a 1-24” twist, and both seem designed for rapid expansion, not penetration. Better get looking ASAP, considering the current supply situation.
What fresh Hell is this?

I have one of the first ones made with the walther barrel. 100 gr of ffg black and a 240 grain pistol bullet and sabot has always worked well

I just scored an unfired MK85 blued with laminate stock. Picked up a 209 conversion kit and an extra 100 red holders, they are getting scarce. Research says BH209 is too hot for plunger type guns, but 80 grains of it is the same velocity as two 777 pellets. Not sure if I'll try 80 gr of BH209 or stick with my old 90 gr Pyrodex Select that work so well in other Knights. I use green sabots and Hornady 240 gr XTP.
