I remember when cars came without radio and heater, even back seats, as standard equipment. Ads would list the price “ Radio & Heater included!” 3-speed manual transmissions, shifter usually on the column, were standard even into the 70s.

Don’t recall exactly when, but sometime in the 60s, seatbelts and side mirrors became required equipment
