So, did someone take that bull and render a score?

General tag, public land he’d definitely be a trophy especially with a bow. But I’d say 300 or a bit under.

He "might" break 300. Tough to be dogmatic from the photo angle as his width might be a surprise (I think he's wider than we may think, and he's got some decent beam length). He's also got the beginnings of nice mass which, of course, doesn't add much to score, but which is definitely an underrated feature of a good bull - at least to me. Compared to our local elk, he's got decent 3rds. But he's by no means a mature bull - he's got more growth left.
Only in some alternate universe would that be called a 335-345 bull.

Got potential, but has some growing to do, to break 300 !

I'd score it goodenoughformywall. I couldn't care less about numbers.

335-345? Good Lord.
About 305, which, in the end matters not. He’s beautiful and a grand trophy as long as he wasn’t behind a fence and wearing an ear tag.

Guess the OP wasn't really interested now that several guys who hunt evaluated the pic...

Guess the OP wasn't really interested now that several guys who hunt evaluated the pic... Someone asked him a day or two ago if he ever actually started a thread. You’d think he’d have posted a picture of an Elk that he “actually shot”. 🤪🤪🤪. 😂😂😂

I have one that really similar. In that it's got good spread and length but is a little weak up top. Mine's bigger / more developed down low than the one in the picture. I believe the taxidermist measured mine at 325. I'm guessing that one is 300.

[ Linked Image] I killed this guy about 5 or 6 years ago and it grossed just a drop north of 350 as you see it

I believe the taxidermist measured mine at 325. I'm guessing that one is 300. Sounds like you, and I have almost identical twins the way you describe yours, and is why I scored the OP bull as I did. Mine scored 332-338. I can’t remember exactly, but it was +/- 335ish around that. The angle of the picture of the OP bull is very deceiving on the width, and that is why I scored it as I did. The main beams stay pretty flat coming out, slightly flatter than mine even, and mine has some sizeable width to it. I believe the larger width on the OP bull over mine, cancels out mine being stronger down low, and washes out in the end score. When I put the pictures side by side on my screen, it is obvious this bull is even wider. If there was a frontal picture of this bull, people here claiming 300 would be amazed at what a picture angle can hide.

That bull would have to have an 80 inch inside spread to make up the extra 40 inches you are giving it. When someone talks spread or mass as a major mover of score as if they were an expert field scorer... no...

The OP bull pictured has zero chance of going 330-340 from any angle. Width doesn’t matter & all of those short tines aren’t getting it over the 300 line imo. Not a bad bull - just not a mature bull from a scoring potential standpoint.
