Never ceases to amaze me how a cast lead bullet can penetrate at less than warp speed. Nice pig. Looks like the XTP worked like a charm.

Congrats on that hog and GOOD shooting!
I have a Lipsey's .44 Special Flattop Ruger Blackhawk with a 5 1/2" barrel that I am about to get field ready.
Picked up an RCBS 250g Keith SWC mold and will most likely use that slug with some heavy handloads on Hogs, Deer and such down the road.
Your post here makes me look forward to that !

Well done….I have been considering a .44 Special with Buffalo Bore or Double Tap heavy ammo for a pack pistol to carry in the woods for a hog and deer trail gun. I like a .44 Mag but a lighter special or lower recoil option for <50 yards makes a lot of sense.

That is a handsome piece. Might like it better than the S&W 69.
What’s the barrel length, 3”? Less than 4” isn’t legal here for hunting. 4" and 5" is also available, if you want to use it for hunting.

I have that same GP100 in 44 Special. I haven't taken mine hunting, but plan to. I've got some Buffalo Bore ammo to try in it.

I think what Jeff is referring to is when he’s back “home” in Texas. I’m sure that he’s had plenty of experience with the critters of Texas prior to him moving and focusing on Alaska.
