MONROE COUNTY, Ga. (CBS46) — Four people are dead after a high-speed chase overnight in Monroe County.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, a deputy clocked a black Dodge Charger Scat Pack going 102 miles per hour on I-75 North at mile marker 189 Sunday around 12:15 a.m. Before the deputy could stop the vehicle, the driver increased speed to 137 miles per hour. The driver refused to stop, increasing in speed to over 169 miles per hour.

Deputies lost sight of the vehicle but say about five minutes later, a citizen saw a man on the 198 exit ramp, as well as a Dodge Charger on fire in the wood line.

Deputies from Monroe and Butts counties responded and attempted to remove the passengers and extinguish the fire. The sheriff's office says the deputies were able to remove two occupants before they were no longer able to see due to the heavy smoke and flames.

Two males were transported to Navicent Health in Macon by EMS. Four other males were pronounced deceased at the scene. Three guns were located at the scene as well as 17 credit cards, according to MCSO.

This incident remains under investigation.

??????

What's the rest of the story?

How do you get 6 adult males, three guns, and 17 credit cards in a Dodge Charger Scat Pack?

We need common sense muscle car reform.

There is absolutely no reason for a civilian to own police grade automobiles.

Besides....we got the polio shot....er I mean we had a straight 6 splash oiler Chevy and we did just fine with it!

The four victims killed early Sunday in a fiery, high-speed car crash along Interstate 75 at the High Falls exit were publicly identified by the Monroe County coroner on Monday.

Coroner Joey Proctor said the victims, from Spalding County and the Griffin area, roughly 20 miles northwest of where the wreck happened, were: Oman Ellis, 21; G’nai Foster, 22; Jarvis Redding, 18; and Tyron Barrett, 17.

Proctor said one of the people killed was driving the car, a Dodge Charger Scat Pack, which at one point was said to have reached 169 mph after zooming past sheriff’s deputies early Sunday on the north side of Forsyth.

Sheriff’s officials have said the 12:15 a.m. crash happened when the car shot up the freeway’s northbound off-ramp at High Falls Road and crashed into some woods before catching fire.

It was not clear why the car was traveling at more than twice the 70-mph posted speed limit.

Deputies, however, said they found three guns in the car along with 17 credits cards.

What we need is COMMON SENSE, leave all the [bleep] reform bullshit out of it. Ive got 2 cars sitting here right now that are capable of speeds approaching that, 140ish is the fastest Ive had either of them though, Ran out of good road before I ran out of go pedal juice.
