Well I had to pass on a 1955 vintage pre-34 Kit Gun. All numbers matched, nice timing and tight, but the front sight had been replaced with a smooth (looked shop made) not serrated blade, poorly installed. The person that replaced it buggered up the rib and barrel trying to get the pin in. Same person evidently tried to cover his mess with cold blue..cosmetic but it would cost a bunch to get it re-done correctly. Another one of those that didn’t see much use, but was not in good enough condition. Honest wear is one thing.
They were asking $900.00,

I can see (read) why you might.

A 34 with larger grips can fit just about anyone, but $900 for anything other than a new-in-the-box specimen is too high. Although in a few years it might not be.

Guy that traded this one in has two of the same vintage that look unfired in the correct box with paper work, $1400 wouldn't buy either one.

$1400 is way high in today's market. Heck, boxed 34s on Gunbroker seem to be $900-1000 currently.

The larger factory grips seem to make it handle better. I've had this one for over 50 years. It's a keeper. DF

Completely agree with the larger grips on the M34. I've got the 34-1 version that have liked even better than the M17 K-22 that it replaced as being too heavy for just a pack around .22. When the stainless M63 came out, I thought that I wanted one of those, but it was so rough compared to my old M34-1 that I had my revolver Armaloy plated and it looks just like a 63 now, only smoother. It got larger custom checkered walnut grips to finish it off.
My other auto is a .45

I've had two 4" 63's & it was a fact I didn't shoot them as well as a K frame.
Had the smaller Pachmayers on the first gun & they helped. Used a Tyler T grip on the second gun & it did keep the gun slim & trim, but only helped shootability just a little.
Finally, I broke down& went a little bigger & got a set of Hogues without the finger grooves like EDM's shown here. They upped the size of the gun quite a bit but tremendously helped me shoot the gun so much better. I should have gone bigger so many years ago.
Dirtfarmers J targets are a good compromise in size & feel good to me. But sometimes hard to find, or expensive when I did find them.

Model 34’s yes, if you see a Model of 1953 22/32 Kit Gun unfired with correct numbered boxes/paperwork at $1000 you’d better buy it. Last one I saw sold for $1450 and that was two years ago. Improved I frames are even more.

I need to get mine out and shoot it. I don't think I've ever fired it. Just bought it and stuck it in the safe. I do enjoy shooting my Heavy Frame Target.

Love my M63. One of my favorite rimfire handguns.

Even the factory stocks on my pre-M43 Airweight work fine with my large hands.
