Not ALL that long ago and the tables were reversed. I think manufacturers are decent at following the money, which is probably why the LRHS 2 is 4.5-18 only and they skipped the 3-12. I liked that configuration better, but I certainly didn't buy enough to change the trend, and apparently neither did you or the rest of world.

Regarding the MK 5, a good friend had good results with a 3.6-18 and wore out a few barrels under it. He got a 5-25 and it totally grenaded in short order. FWIW...
