I must be getting old- but didn’t Midway used to be one of the cheapest places to buy ammo/reloading stuff? And they used to have free shipping on everything. What happened?

Maybe you’re older than me, but I don’t ever recall them being the cheapest. I do think Larry is a keen businessman and has a firm understanding of supply and demand while at the same time, is not interested in charities to people who have expendable income for reloading components.

Mine either- but they used to have the best catalogs and 95% of the time had stuff in stock.

Larry is definitely learning how to “boil the frog” on pricing.

The first time I ordered something online was from Midway.

They still have free shipping on orders over $49.00 most of the time.

As far as I know, never the "cheapest," but great service and fastest shipping in the business.

For example, I bought some .357 ammo Thursday night @10:31pm, it was at my door by noon today.

I don't mind paying a few extra bucks for better service and fast delivery.

AND...they stand behind their stuff 100%. I bought some Mini 14 magazines that gave trouble and they took them back and refunded my $ pronto. I just received a package with some Montana Extreme bore solvent leaked all over the inside and when I opened the mailbox, the odor darned near knocked me down. Made 1 phone call and they are shipping the entire order again for nadda. Customer service asked for pics but the new order was already on the way. If that is not worth a couple extra $ I don't know what is.

I’ve always been pleased with Midway, been doing business with them for years. Most times I visit my sons out in Missouri we make at least one trip down there, it’s about an hour from my sons. Call down with an order then drive down and pick it up. Usually make a run out to Graf’s as well.

I f you want to hear an opinion of Larry Potterfield, foolishly ask Mr Dewey of coated cleaning rod fame if Midway was selling his rods under their name. Holy schit, I thought my ears were going to have real blisters on them.

Midway has never been cheap or fast IMO. What they were was a company with a great selection of items for gun enthusiasts back pre internet when choices and selections were limited to a few mail order catalog companies.

Today you can do an internet search and find dozens of companies offering about the same price and shipping times as Midway. Back in 1990 you had very few choices.

I don't remember exactly but I saw a net worth figure on Larry and he's worth beaucoup bucks! I mean $100 million or more. Guy's definitely up with the big boys. Didn't happen overnight but he's got a huge income from midWay and the show and other sources, evidently.

I'm a dealer and they stopped selling wholesale years ago. I don't buy from them anymore. I get a lot from Midsouth, gZanders, Powder Valley and a few others as my main sources.

I never found them to be cheap, but they do sometimes have stuff other places don't. That's the only reason I shop there......unless there's a sale, of course.

He isn't the cheapest and he isn't the first one I look to but often they do have what I want when nobody else has it. Here's some advice: If you don't like Midway then do business elsewhere. After all nobody forces you to buy from them.

When you say that about everyone, it loses its effect.
