I am toying with the idea of having another 22-250 built & was wondering if anyone has used a Magnum Research carbon barrel? I just want something lighter than a bull barrel, but with the same benefits. I have three of their rimfire rifles that I am very pleased with. I did a search with no results. Thanks

I do not believe that they (christensen) sell just their barrels. I have a smith that does my work.

I also was considering a carbon barrel untill I saw the cost. ABS is asking almost 900.00 for barrel.

I believe the Magnum Research list at $599.00. That is chaeper than most. Does anyone have any real world experience with Magnum Research?

I had big plans to do this last year. I went out and bought a Rem Ti rifle and was all set up to send it to Christensen arms. I had the quote and everything. Then I did something you should never do with a donor action, I shot the rifle.grin

"well, this ain't gonna happen" Nothing is going to get away from this rifle as long as I do my part. It's a shooter.

I don't think Christensen will sell a barrel outright, but they will barrel your action. I didn't like this at first either until I thought about a little. There's no learning curve for installing one as they have already done thousands.

Really didn't answer your question, but a TTT for ya anyway.

I have an ABS barrel on a 6-284. It's not light but ABS swears that I won't be able to shoot it out because of the heat dispersion. I have about 600 rds. now. There is some info. out there that some types of carbon wraps actually trap heat in and there has been some claims of factory take off barrels being used instead of hgih end barrels. A while back there was some good info. on www.longrangehunting.com so do a search there and you'll find plenty on ABS.
