POP, I've tried both, accuracy and velocity were disappointing in my M-70 Classic. 68.0 grains of IMR 7828 gave me 3050 fps and sub MOA groups.

Not what you asked for, but I believe 7828 is the go to powder in the Seven Mag.

I tried both and didn't deem them to be worth fooling with .I like 7828 in my weatherbys and 338 Ultra , but ain't found nothing better than Rl 22 for 7 mag in regular length barrels and RL 19 in the one short barreled 7 mag I fooled with .

I crammed all the Retumbo I could get under a 150 gr bst and velocity was in the twenty eights . Don't recall how much RL 25 I started with . I only loaded three rounds or so and didn't get a group . Didn't chrono them .

Pop , you mind looking at your magic chart for a 270 cal 130 Barnes XXX with muzzle velocity of 3487 . I just re-zeroed at 250 yds this afternoon and I'm wondering what the drop is at 300 and 400 yards . I can't find the B.C. number for them and anyhow my Nosler chart is in even hundred yard increments .

Sorry for Hi-Jacking your thread but figged this might be faster than a PM.

160g AB with 68-70g of Retumbo should work for you. My Ruger #1 shoots 1 MOA with 68.5g at a nice comfortable 3000 fps. OAL is 3.290.

Good luck.

I saw somebody on here write that Alliant suggested if there is no available data, start at R-22 max loads and work up. 66grs should be a good starting point. I'd think R-25 should be a good 7mmRM/160 powder. I'm getting 3080fps in a 25.6" bbl with R-22...R-25 should give that or a little more with no problems.

POP,

RL25 works too good in the 7RM not to try it.

My 7RM will print .25" grps using Fed215s, RL25 under 150grBTs. Velocity is right at 3200fps out of a 25" PN barrel.

Start out using the upper end data for RL22 and work up. My load with RL25 is only 2grs more than RL22 and is warm so work up carefully.

IME, RL25 is more consistent and accurate with 150-160gr bullets than RL22 in the 7RM. The added velocity is nice too.

POP,
My Swift manual has data for the 7mm Rem mag with RL25 using the
140,150,160 and 175gr pills.
May be a starting place, anyway...

71.5grs of R25 and 154 Interbonds does 3215 in my 26" 700 w/ .75" groups. Max in my gun, work up from around 68grs in yours. Brett

280: Alliant has data for RL25 in the 7 Rem Mag; I have it somewhere at home.I posted results in another thread, but in one 7 mag, 68 gr gives a bit under 3100 with the 160 partition, and 69 gr gave 3150. I know the data shows 70 gr as max with some 160 gr bullets.

My former best load in my 7mm RM. was 65 grs. of RL 22 with a 160 grain partion. 69 grs. of RL 25 not only fills the case fuller but also is around 75 FPS. faster and a bit more accurate.
Both loads shot out of my browning safari with a 24 " shilen barrell. Norma cases, fed. 215 primer.

POP-I like 7828 in the big 7's for bullets in the 140-160 range. It also works very well with the big boy 175's.

For the 175's I also like R25.

Good luck to ya

I tried H4831, RL22, RL25, and retumbo in my 7mags and STW and they all put back on the shelf once I tried IMR7828. Best MV AND best accuracy.
