The Gun Library at Cabelas sure has some beautiful guns for sale.
I'm wondering if anyone here has ever sold a gun to Cabelas? If so, how did they determine the buying price, and was there anything else about the transaction you'd care to share?
Thanks!

I had them make an offer on a mint condition Mark V Weatherby .378WM a few years ago. They wanted give me $700.00 or about 75- 80% of the Blue Book value for that particular rifle. They also tried the we're a dealer and have to factor in "reconditioning" and "used gun" resale song and dance.
I wasn't very impressed by their approach.
YMMV

Hey, that's more than the pawn shop gives...... Yes that is a sad fact. Local dealers are about the same. Figure fair book value and expect to get a 50% offer.

Not to upset anyone, but, how would a gun shop keep the lights on if they gave you what a gun was Blue Booked for? They certainly cannot give you top dollar for a gun and ask for even more than top doller and hope to sell it. I worked in a gun shop years ago and we would get folks coming in with 22 RF's that were really nice, we had to offer $15 to $50 bucks for them as we had tons of them that just didn't sell and the last thing we wanted was another NO Sale gun. You are always better off going to the public to sell your guns, not a gun shop. Just a fact of life. Same with a car or most anything you want to sell to a dealer

Several years ago, I did a gun plus cash trade with the Gun Library at the Sidney, Nebraska store and was pleased with the deal. Fair for me; fair for them. RS

Traded a gun to the local Cabelas, got more than I'd spent so I was happy. Then they marked it up 50%, but they'd probably cut you 15% on a deal. So it'd be a 30% markup or so. Reasonable guys and I trust them. However, had the KC store offer me less than 50% on a Colt LR compared to what they had 2 others on the shelf priced at. Would have been a 140% markup for them on that one. Seller beware.
I get better offers from Scheels, and they're upfront about what price they'll be selling it at so that you know they're just doing an honest markup. No 140% markups from them.
