Thank you for that. Just saved me some frustration. I’ll be content with the Talley lows.

JM, thanks much for the guidance to Chris custom rings...I got on his list.
Might roll Mountain Tech till his come in, cause I really want to burn some powder in this rifle.
Once again, thanks to everyone who replied...I appreciate it

I run talley light weight rings on mine, whether is 1" or 30mm. Lows work best for anything I've tried up to a 42mm objective lens. I only tighten them down to 15lbs on the base screws and 14 on the ring screw, that's what the master melvin Forbes told me.

I have Talley 1" lows and a Leupold 6x42 on my 270 and really like the combo.

I have Warne mountains tech rings on the way... Probably gonna look for the Talley lows to have a second option.
Boatammo, you like that 270?
Thanks again guys!

One option I didn't see mentioned was DNZ. They make a 2 piece mount that's very sturdy for the Fieldcraft. It's a little higher than TLW lows but lower than a rail an Seekins rings. Not a bad option.
Chris84's are tough to beat....really for height and strength I'm not sure anything can beat them.

The pic he posted of them in his original ad were sharp....I mean dang sharp.
Thank you for the info on the DNZ...I will check them out. Its always nice to have options...even if the rifles are hard to find
I have yet to settle on a scope for it....I am leaning to a 4.5-14x40 LR which I have in the safe...
But a lighter scope might suit the rifle a bit better

A 6x Meopta is a real nice addition to a SA with 21” tube

alwaysoutdoors....what rings/bases are you running with that set-up? Chambering?
Since I already have a rail on mine, I will probably try the warne rings. At least I can put a scope on it & start working up a load.
thanks much

I have rails and Talleys so ....

Got my mountain tech rings, think the talley rings would be lower....but the Warne are nice.
Hopefully Chris84 can hook a brother up with a set of his.
Btw: called Barrett, asked about a manual on the fieldcraft...super nice folks, very helpful. I asked if they would consider reintroducing the fieldcraft rifle, and was told they were focusing all attention to their government contracts....which as others have said, not looking good for the fieldcraft.

I'd much rather have a Montana or better yet a nice wood stocked 84M classic select.......been there done that with two field crafts......just didn't see the appeal. Small assed bolt handle.....heavy as fuxk bolt lift, [bleep] design ed stock......can't believe they command such coin these days. Much better rifles for the money Hell Bergara premier s are nicer rifles.

Chris,
Any chance you’ll make some that use all 5 base screws?

Wow, I just saw Chris84 custom steel rings. I’m a 24CF rookie. Are these something anyone can get on a list to buy for the Fieldcraft or was this a one and done batch? Either way, great machining!
