They are cluby and on the heavy side. Save your money and buy a McMillan or a Banser, IMHO

Not sure if it’s the same as you’re looking at, but I like the stock on my new .308 EW MB pretty well, better than the Medalist I put on a Mauser. The finished rifle weighs 7lbs 12oz with a 13oz scope and handles well. My Howa Alpine with the Bansner is a bit lighter, but with a different action obviously and a shorter barrel. If retrofitting, I’d probably go with the one I could get first.
What fresh Hell is this?

The easy solution is McMillan Edge. It takes a few months, and they are expensive, but are a quality stock. Expect it to weigh about 21-23 oz compared to roughly 32 oz for most factory stocks. The B&C is 28-30 oz. You can usually take a McMillan out of the box, bolt it to the rifle and go shoot. Some guys bed them. I've done it both ways and the ones I didn't bed shot just as well. Most of the other high-end stocks will require some final fitting and finish by someone who knows what they are doing.
If you keep an eye on the classifieds here, you stand a good chance of finding a used one. I've bought 4 that way. It might not be the exact color you want, but you can save some money, and get it in a few days. However, it may take several months of looking for one to come up for sale that will fit your rifle.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

McMillan just cut its offerings back by about 2/3. The fore-end tends to be narrow on their light-weight stocks. Brown Precision is great, extremely light, probably the strongest for weight, but expensive and a long wait time. MPI has a mixed reputation, possibly due to changes in ownership, but they will build light stocks for rifles (Ruger 77's, Kimbers) that are hard to get otherwise. As far as price vs quality, Bansner is probably on top for Win 70 stocks.
