The longer cartridges fall out of my shirt pocket when I'm tracking. So I got one in 308 Win......

I've been building my 30-06s on short actions lately. It eliminates the problem you mention. You just have to seat bullets a little deeper. Though, I've heard plenty of latitude for COL, hint.
