Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.
Democrats would burn this country to the ground, if they could rule over the ashes.

A lot of times a criminal conviction can cause unemployment......but that's just me.

A lot of times a criminal conviction can cause unemployment......but that's just me. When there were 50 applicants for every job, excluding anyone with a felony was a quick, cost free way to winnow down the applicant pool. Once that question is on the application of a major corporation, it takes an act of Congress to take it off. Guys convicted of MJ possession in college or for diddling their high school girlfriend, 30 years later still have to check that felony box.

We have an ex-con at work. Used to have more. I’d like to have one less.

many states now have laws that prohibit an employer from asking about past criminal history. Federal laws 'protect' you as well.

If someone cannot navigate life without getting crosswise with the law (we're not talking speeding tickets here), as an employer, what are the chances this guy is going to follow employment rules or policies?
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

I'd think this report would be more to your liking.... no, maybe not! Linkand this from 2012, stating that by the age of 23 some 30% of all Americans have been arrested, and that even without a conviction it would greatly reduce your chances of finding work. Phil

Alec Baldwin is unemployed... and he doesn't have a criminal conviction.
Just saying... stats matter.
If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.

Where will they be when the little darlings steal or assault other employees or customers? My employer required everyone to be bondable. How's that work with ex-cons? OTOH, finding someone that will show up every day and stay off their phones seems to be a major problem. Maybe someone used to prison discipline would be able to do that.
What fresh Hell is this?

40% of black men between the ages of 15-25 are under controls of the State in some manner.

I hired a guy with a felony rap once. Receiving stolen property at just over 18 if I recall correctly. He was in his early 20s at the time and had a wife w/2 kids and was working at an auto repair shop. I hired him to work on industrial rotating equipment in a field environment. One of the nicest and most laid-back guys I had on my team. He appreciated his job. I gave him several promotions and sent him across the country for training. He had a very keen mechanical mind and worked his ass off without complaint.
I've no doubt he is in the minority but I never regretted that hire.
