As ungodly weird as it is to all non-Canadians and most Canadians too, the system worked. The Senate (yes, there is one) is an appointed body instead of elected like the House of Commons. Any Bill must first be passed by the HoC, signed off by the Senate, and passed on to the Governor General who signs it in the name of the Queen and it then becomes law. The Emergency Act was up for renewal and was approved by the HoC, then sent on to the Senate. The Senate wanted information about why it needed to be renewed because the truckers had been dealt with. The HoC wouldn't tell them because the reason was based on secret intelligence. The intelligence was so secret and so sensitive that it couldn't be revealed to the Senate. The Senate refused to sign until they got the information, so there was gridlock. Apparently the information was/is so secret and sensitive that to tell the information to the Senate would be a greater threat to the Dominion (OK, Canada is no longer technically a dominion, but it sounds neat) than the truckers. Turd-oh saw where things were going and rather than lose face, declared that as of this afternoon Canada will no longer be under the Emergency Act. He's withdrawing it. Hooray! Saved from absolute despotism by wonderful wit and wisdom of our PM. RB

I'd post fireworks, but it was a stupid thing to push in the first place.
Thanks for letting us know.

Nobody down here is in much of a position to give advice to the Canuckian cousins, we are in the same boat, taking on water badly, only worse, can't/won't enforce our borders, can't hold an honest election...but I sure hope you good people are keeping lists of the willing accomplices that gave the Trudeau/Davos gang the votes for EA in the house. And take your list to the polls next election. Maybe even take a look at strengthening the language regarding the invoking of the EA. Canucks will have the opportunity to become an example to the world.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Yet, it will still be out there in case he wants to use it again. Should be purged.

Yet, it will still be out there in case he wants to use it again. Should be purged. local dirt; Good afternoon to you sir, I hope you're a tad warmer in your part of the south of south than we are here and that you're well. I'm going to attempt to be brief, but as you can perhaps imagine there's a whole bunch at stake for us as a nation and as individuals. The fact that the Emergency Measures Act was used at all is well beyond the pale. Added to that, the fact that they then added the ability to freeze/seize the assets of any and all who were said to be subversive with absolutely no specified guidelines. Then that banking institutions could and should do so without judicial process or any legal ramification after the fact has got to be a wake up call to any Canadians who are sane, sober and not presently comatose. Edit: It allowed the government and banks to basically "deperson" anyone who made their ambiguous list. Who can keep a house, pay taxes, carry on life for more than a finite time when they're assets are all frozen? How does one challenge that in court without a lawyer? Where does the next meal come from.... you know? Then we might add that this was all done with the blessing and in fact open support of the 3 Canadian legacy media outlets needs to be known as well. It's gone too far for me to believe this is over or anything resembling a start towards it. I cannot begin to express how much I hope and pray I'm wrong. If you or any are so inclined, we could still use prayers for many who are now headed back to their homes both west and east. We could use some wisdom as well as we begin to deal with the next part of the play we're all in. Thanks in advance and God bless. Dwayne

Hi Dwayne, Of course. "Ask and you WILL receive" works in many ways. Done. I have been wondering however, and have a couple of questions as regards your government proceedures. Was hopeing that you might expound on these two somewhat? 1. what level of an offence would it take for the PM to loose status and garner a vote of "no confidence?" 2. What is/are the full ramifications for the PM to receive that vote? I apologize if these have been covered on this topic somewhere already. Best, Mark

I agree with Dwayne - it's not over. I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop - and wondering exactly what it will be.
This ride ain't over yet, boys.
It's also going on in Ring #2 - the USA. It hasn't broken open as wide - YET.
