I used Dillon progressive reloading presses several years ago for handgun ammo and .223. Does anyone here reload rifle ammo on a progressive press? When loading hunting/practice ammo is the accuracy potential there with a progressive press.
Thoughts?

Blue or bust,be it bullets or progressive presses(grin).
I LOVE my 550-B,how it is so routinely superb is beyond me.............

I agree with Big Stick. Love my 650. Load mostly 22-250s with it. Only problem I ever had was getting erratic powder weights but I re-read the instructions and readjusted the powder measure and now it throws within a tenth of a grain. Only way to be more precise, I suppose, is to weigh every charge, but I'd rather be shooting.

I have one and love it. I load rifle rounds such as 25-06, 30-06, 25-06,223 and others. I had the lee load master and could never get to work consistantly for long peroid of time. The plactic primer feeder where fovever getting bent. Maybe user error, but the dillion is top notch.

I have used a Dillon 550 since 1997 for all my competition, training and hunting loads. It is a wonderfull press when you want to load lots of ammo. But it takes time to change from one cal to another. therefor my advice is to load a few hundred or thousand rounds, before changing to another cal.

I've had a 650 for several years. I've only loaded my handgun ammo on it thus far, 10mm, .45 ACP, and .44 mag. It's a fantastic machine that I'll have for many years to come. Dillon's customer service is stellar as well. Good luck, Troy

550B and I've loaded /06 and 7mm mag. Plus pistol rounds. I do the rifle a little different than the pistol. As soon as I get my rifle brass in from the range, I resize them on my single press and clean and trim and then put them in a coffee can. When I'm ready to reload then I dump them in a bin and go for it. So on my rifle set-ups, station 1 doesn't have a sizing die in it. It just didn't make sense to lube the brass resize, then pull it out clean it off, trim to length, and then put it back in to prime. Pistol I use the carbide dies so I don't use lube so I have each station filled, really slick process. I love it I use the single press to work up loads and then adjust the dillon if I decide to saty with that bullet. I too do the 223. Fun isn't it?

If your' loading pistol cartridges that headspace off the case mouth, would'nt you want to resize and then trim them also? Jeff

I load for a 45 acp 357 44 mag 38 special on my dillon. What I do is measure the brass with my caliper before resizing, it the brass is snug before resizing I set it aside and do that one later or check it right after the resize process. I have a lee trimmer so I have to trim before I prime. I have yet to have a problem with the system I'm doing right now. I'm real careful to make sure that my cases are the right length. My 45 is my self defense gun and I don't want a malfunction when it is criticle. Good point though .

I am with Stick, blue is good I do individually weigh each powder charge, but other than that, I wouldn't own any other press than Dillon. They are FANTASTICA! Flinch

I have a Dillon 450 press, which is my first progress press. I don't have the replaceable turrent, so I'm forced for efficiency to reload several boxes of a particular caliber before changing. If I'm set up for large rifle / pistol I'll allow myself to run a hundred .35 Whelen or 9.3x62 mm and then run several hundred .45 ACPs and so on. I most recently reloaded some .416 Taylor from .338 Win Mag with no problems, except the rifle never made it off the drawing board. The Dillon support is wonderful, as is the blue press magazine, which I read for the articles, not the pretty girls on the cover, naturally (or so I keep trying to convince my wife). Carson
