My Ruger tangers are all gone, and the load I shot the barrel out was this:

85g bullet, pick
Win Case
Fed 210 primer
38.5g H4895

Killed deer, chucks, and pigs.

Longest chuck kill was 550 yards

We shot some large Nebraka white tails using the 95g Partition, hot load of R#19(Fed 215) or IIMR 4831(9 1/2)

Just recently, 85g Barnes TSX with a super hot load of R#19 with Fed 215 with velocity of 3450.

ON Remington 700's, this case should be on a long action. One nephew has a 6 Rem AI with a long action with 80g TTSX doing 3800 on a 26" barrel. My young nephews love the 6 Rem or the AI either one. In the Spring, I am going to play with R#26 and the 105 Hornady btph for my nephew's hog rifle, vel should be in the 3300 fps area with his #3b, 24" tube, Rem Long action. The Barnes bullets like to jump and often, they will shoot quite well jumping .120 and sometimes more. This makes the 80g and 85g Barnes a #1 pick for the Rem short action.

ON a Re-barrel we will be going to a 6 Creed on all the medium action Rem 700's, and I can tell you that those 105g Hornady BTHP do not suck on white tails and hogs. The Lapua Scenar 105 did real well for us also...they just cost more money.

In my pair of 6mms plus one other I sold I have had my best luck for 75HP's and100gr Spitzer with RL19. In my 788 I use 48.0gr RL19 and in the Ruger MKII I use 49.0gr RL19 with the Sierra 75HP's. In the Ruger MKII I use 45.5gr RL19 with the Sierra 100gr Sptz. I might add I get excellent accuracy with both bullets in both rifles.

One of the dumbest moves I've done is sell my 6mm BDL..

My first hunting rifle, 70's edition, been fed a steady diet of hornady 87's... Boy used it, waitin for grandson now.

I think this particular era of ruger stocks is what prompted Scovil to trim his (in 7x57) down. Think he did an article on it. Probably worth a look if you keep her.

Were they used with spherical powder loads?

I use them for large capacity slow burning loads and all spherical powder.

I'd load the same projectile I do in 243's, 85gn TSX. They are very effective on deer and don't kersplode coyotes. If starting fresh, I'd not dismiss the 80TTSX. I have a pretty good pile of the 85's already so I haven't tried the 80's but a few friends have w/very similar accuracy and terminal results vs. 85 non-tipped TSX. Neither of these should give you any grief regarding magazine length vs. OAL and both projectiles shoot just fine even if they have a significant jump to the lands.

ON a Parker Hale Varmint back in the 80's and early 90's, I had a custom barrel installed for calling coyotes, 26" Shilen, with .030 freebore reamer.

4000 fps, shooting tiny, tiny groups

Our long range Nevada coyote load was
with a very hot load of IMR 4064, Fed 210, 80g Berger at 3500 fps.
R#19 shoots this load at 3600 with a fed 215 in Win brass, 1/2" groups, but the IMR 4064 load is 1/4".

I never used a magnum primer when shooting Win 760 as it always blew the group, we also hunting in some cold weather in N. Nevada.

80g Bargers put a quarter size hole in a coyote, but the 60g Sierra's killed them just as dead and often you had to hunt for an exit hole.

For one load only for varmints and deer I don't believe you can beat the Sierra 85HPBT.

I've seen that stock on Ruger tangers, forend is certainly on the wide side. Now mine from 1982 has a very trim stock looks similar to the later Ruger ultralight stock, so definitely some variation over the years

I'd recommend Varget & the 95 grain ballistic tips.

I’ve only loaded and owned one. And haven’t tried many loads. Mine is a SA 700. Mark Penrod barreled for me. 25” shield.

I’ve used 55 and 70 NBTs. 75 and 87 v max. All with imr 4350. I’ve been shooting coyotes with it mostly with the 70 NBTs. Haven’t killed a coyote yet with the 87s but I’m sure it’ll work. The other three do great.

Last fall my son shot an antelope at 200 yards broadside with the 70 nbt full penetration. Then he shot a mature WT buck at 50’ head on with it too. Dropped him. The bullet made it into the rib cage and made a mess. We were not expecting to see the buck there and were really just on our way to hunt somewhere else. The buck was stupid with the rut and hesitated too long. Those are the only two head of big game we’ve killed it. Small sample but I was impressed.

It was many years ago now, but my 6MM Rem was one I made on a Mauser. The load was with H4831 and shot all bullets touching at 100. I used 100 and 95 grain bullets but the only 6MM bullets I ever used lighter then 95 grains were shot in my 243s. The 6MM I made had a 1-9 twist, Shilen barrel. My one 243 had a 1-10 and the other had a 1-9. I did use light bullets in the 243s but never in my 6MM so all I can say is to start with 4831 and see how well it does for you.

All my H4831 in those days was WW2 surplus powder, so even if I still had the charge weights written down it would not be of much value to you today. You simply need to load them, and work up safely with the powders you can get today.

My favorite load with 100 and 105gr bullets is 43.5grs of IMR4350.
