Is this crazy or what? See link.

I know prices are up, and this is a very nice rifle, but ..........

I hope the seller actually receives the amount of the final bid!

I remember seeing a gun safe full of Savage pre-mil "F" models in upstate NY, many with tang tags, a pair with duplicate serial numbers, some in special wood, all very high condition...

That collection would be worth a very pretty penny now! wink

The winner of that auction also won the 32-40 for 2700 and the 308 for 4500 from the same seller. Lets see what the sellers 243 and 250 F’s bring!!

Widow's collection... maybe a couple of well to do family members driving prices up to help the widow? Hope she's getting the majority of the money and didn't sell it cheap.

If a 99F in 300 is worth almost $8000 why did we have a pissing match about the 32-40? LOL

Looks like I shouldn’t be hunting with my F .300.

Two theories on why guns have gone up so much in value-

1) Good ones are getting hard to find as Savages have come into their own

2) Two years of decreased recreational and travel opportunities due to the manufactured crisis has created a glut of disposable income for collectors

As much as some people may want ridiculous sky-high prices to be standard, one or two sales don't set a new standard price point.

With Tommy Guns running up the market for years, I believe the higher prices are here to stay. Not $7600 prices, but $2000 Savages are very common now, where they weren't a short time ago. The seller of the 300 above has a few others listed as well, and he seems to have hit a hot button with buyers. Hang tags? Long winter? Pent up demand?

I find it interesting that there were four bidders at the $3890 point on that .300...and no box.

Can anyone tell if that is a 700,000 or 900,000 serial range?
