Which I guess is why the Russians, in only a few days, have taken out the targets they wanted to hit, and have surrounded the Ukrainian capital....

The Russians have a reputation of being lousy at logistics. A russian tank running out of fuel somewhere is no surprise- in fact, there is a video on line of a Russian tank that ran out of gas and a couple Ukrainians stop by in their car and give them a ration of cr @p while they are standing around waiting for fuel. If the tank ran out of fuel in a battle area, it wouldn't surprise me that they would abandon it instead of being hit with a Javelin missile ... Never underestimate your ability to overestimate your ability.

Remember the mayor's son who was implanted with a tracking beacon? 😉 Then there's the bait and track. Not that they're skirmish line is likely somewhere hidden.
