Favorite caliber, .257" easily. Which cartridge is a toss up between. 257 Roberts and the. 25-06.
Although the .224" has really been coming on strong the last couple years.

I've used a Kimber Montana in 6.5CM the last few years and do like it, but just ordered a Fierce Fury in 7mm-08 (20" barrel) as I've always had an affinity for that caliber/cartridge.

For what I do here in the big woods, probably the .358" bore. Either a .35 Whelen 7600 carbine or a Remington Model 8 .35 Remington.

The last couple of years I have been reaching for a RAR in .300 blackout. I shoot the 110 gr Barnes TacTx out of it at 2400 fps. It is a dream to carry, is easy in the blind, has an excellent trigger and is (after a bit of work) very accurate. The last deer I shot with it was at 163 yards and she was DRT with a shot through the shoulders.
Other is a semi custom SS 700 in 7-08 shooting 120gr BTs.

.30-06 in Weatherby Vanguard 2 is first. In descending order I would use my Ruger 77 in .270, Remington 700 in.308W,and .243W in Savage 10.

270 Winchester, 260 Remington, and 257 Wby. and if hunting heavy woods a 444 Marlin.
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

I don't really have a favorite deer rifle. The rifle I use depends on the area I'm hunting and how I'm going to hunt it. I am kind of partial to a Marlin 336 in 35 Remington or a Mexican Mauser in 7mm Mauser.

Typically for me it's the weather that gets me to pick one rifle over the other. If it's raining, snowing or generally sh!11y weather I take one of the synthetic SS rifles but if it's nice I usually take one of the classics out.

Man I do it totally different. If I shoot a deer with something that gun comes out of rotation and might not hunt again for another ten years. I shot two with one that will probably never see the woods again because of it. My favorite hunting rifles are this year's rifles! The worst thing that can happen is to get something with it that first season.
It's all about the guns for me. Especially since there aint many deer.

Mauser 7mm-08 or AR 6.8spc from a stand. Walking around in the brush 336 .35 Rem. How do you like the 6.8? What projectile do you use? I have one, but beyond putting it together, function-testing, and zeroing I haven't done much with it. I have a .458 SOCOM I've been shooting a lot, but I think the SPC would be a more verstile platform for deer. Meanwhile, a 20" .308 or my Guide Gun are used the most, with my M94 Winchester being used occasionally. Little Howa LW .308 Guide Gun 6.8

My favorite deer caliber is .284. I mix it up between a couple of 7-08’s and a couple of 7RM’s. I have Tikkas, Remingtons and 1 custom build on a Big Horn action. But I will most often reach for the Ruger Hawkeye M77 in 7mm-08. Got a fixed Leupold 6x42 on it. Have killed a lot of game with that setup
