As much as some people may want ridiculous sky-high prices to be standard, one or two sales don't set a new standard price point. With Tommy Guns running up the market for years, I believe the higher prices are here to stay. Not $7600 prices, but $2000 Savages are very common now, where they weren't a short time ago. The seller of the 300 above has a few others listed as well, and he seems to have hit a hot button with buyers. Hang tags? Long winter? Pent up demand? I agree they've gone up. But $2000 or $2500 is a long ways from $7500.
“ The Savage 99 Pocket Reference”. All models and variations of 1895’s, 1899’s and 99’s covered. Also dates, checkering, engraving.. Find at www.savagelevers.com

the last 14 bids were by 2 bidders, "money to spend, you are not going to out bid me" One of those more money than sense situations. That was my first thought. But after thinking about it, maybe it's not the case. Assuming the tag is real and if the gun's original owner never fired it, or if it's in good condition enough condition that it's close enough, where would you find another for sale? Brand new, on the rack condition with original paper work ( I thought there was paperwork mentioned ). That doesn't mean enough to me to make it worth that much but to some it might.
