Think he underestimated the size and scope of the left. I think a whole lot of people myself included underestimated the size and scope of the left/deep state. Trump putting a white hot light on this along with showing how bias msm and big tech are. We’re two of his greatest accomplishments IMO. These most definitely were some of his major accomplishments along with his scotus appointments. Jmo None of us who were watching and who had our own suspicions were totally aware of how deep the swamp is and how weaponized our federal law enforcement departments are.

He made the mistake of trusting his own party too much, and believing the DOJ still had some honor in its upper ranks.

I think he overestimated his ability to identify swamp people and let too many into his admin. They undermined from the inside out. Barr for example. Agree with the caveat that I don't know how you fill the positions in a presidential administration as an outsider and not be vulnerable to this. For instance, I thought Sessions was a great pick for AG. I knew him from TV and Trump probably did too. Turned out to be a disaster.

Trump came in never being in government before. He had to rely on his party and other people in industry for advice on who to nominate. He had some very bad advice and was fought at every turn by his own party. They want the status quo and will go to any lengths to keep it.
We have a lot of work to do to fix this monumental mess.

Absolutely.
And one of his biggest and earliest mistakes was to have so much
trust in military officers. Especially Flag Officers.
He had no idea that at that level they aren't usually soldiers.
They are full blooded Politician, or they wouldn't have ever gotten there.
People like Trump only rise as self employed types.
Working in a big bureaucracy, they get dismissed quickly.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!
