Been looking for a short action model 70 classic in 7mm-08 or 308.

Found nothing new or used online.

Did find a new Supergrade 7mm-08 and a new Stainless Featherweight in 6.5 Creedmoor.

It appears the Stainless Featherweight has been discontinued. I can’t find that the Stainless Featherweight in 6.5 Creedmoor was ever catalogued.

What do you guys think about a Stainless Featherweight in 6.5 Creed? Is it rare?

I wish I could find a 308 with 7mm-08 a close second.

Thoughts?

The stainless 7/08 classic is going to be a tough one to find - and expensive. Same with the Swede. Both will be 7 digit if you find them.

The stainless featherweight in creed was cataloged, but discontinued now. They have been going up in price already. Not sure how rare - there seemed to be a pile of them for a while on gunbroker.

Are you saying the 7mm-08 was never offered in a 5 or 6 digit? I could of sworn that I had seen one years ago.

I can buy a new Stainless Featherweight for 1350,or a new blue Super Grade for 1150.

Thinking the Super Grade is a better buy. But I like the look and feel of the short action Stainless Featherweights.

Good to know.

Luckily I’m
Looking for the blued featherweight but those are tough to find these days.

I have a '94 featherweight classic in 7mm-08. 5digit serial number with a G prefix. Talley lightweight rings, Leupold vx2 3x9 (old friction style) I have no use for and can't find anyone locally to buy it. I won't ship. Less than 2 boxes through it at a range, never hunted. If you ever get up to the bootheel in Missouri give me a shoutout, maybe we could do something. It's blued, not stainless.

I don't think they are that rare, think they were a shot show special, picked up a new 6.5 Creed last fall, the dealer had quite a few, and more in most common calibers. Also had a slew of the Dark Maple and stainless option of which I picked up a 30-06 with one of the prettiest examples of the dark maple (stained maple) option I have seen.

My wife picked up one of the stainless dark maple rifles last year in 7-08. Beautiful gun.

During the failed liberal party long gun registration fiasco, gun sales were moribund in Western Canada.

I looked at a Win M70 Classic stainless synthetic in 308, and 243 Win ,both 22” and stainless.
Tupperware synthetics Clearance prices, inventory reduction, before the WSMs were released.

I ended up purchasing a 24” Stainless 700 KS in 280 Rem for a great price, but I could’ve bought 3 Win M70s classics for what I paid for that 1 Remington Custom Shop gun.

In retrospect, I Should’ve bought them all ! SA Win CRF projects galore

I don’t think Winchester chambered 7mm-08 in the SA M70s at that time, but it would be my preference.
Or re-barreling to 257 Roberts, or the AI, 22” 243 didn’t appeal. 24” 6mm Rem , Yup

Still kicking myself for not grabbing a few of those classics at Clear Out prices ! Ha

Rebarrel one with a stainless barrel if you want one that much....

I think they are one of the best looking rifles on the market period regardless of price range. Wish I would have bought a couple of them before they were discontinued. One in 243, 6.5 or 270 and one in a 308, 30-06 or 300 Mag you would be good to go for North America and look good doing it.

I like them. I ran across a great deal on this one exactly a year ago:

Was messing around with the bedding on it yesterday..

Great rifles. However, if the OP is looking for a 308 or 7mm08 in a classic, he's going to have much better luck finding a blued model. This is a classic 7mm08 I sold a couple years ago:

Common old 30-06. Thankfully that is what I had been searching for. It took a while to find too.

They are out there, just have to keep looking. I got this on a deal from a guy I hunt with about 10 years ago, .308. Added the scope then hid it in the safe where it’s been ever since. It was well cared for and probably has accounted for 6 deer that he took. I’ve never shot it. He wanted $600 for it, I was there the next day to pick it up.
