Anyone know where a fella can get a 20ga forend for an Encore?
Finally found a 20ga turkey barrel.
Comes with a black plastic forend.
I have the pro hunter ML stock/forend set and I'd like to goto wood or laminate. Where the plastic attaches to the frame drives me nuts and pinches my fingers.
Boyd's makes a shotgun forend but doesn't specify size. I think they are 12 and 20 specific. Might have to get a rifle forend and open it up?

I have a couple Encore forends. They are very fancy American Black Walnut. They are unfinished but it looks like fitting to a gun has been done. I can send you the measurements of the barrel inletting. Phil

I’ve read, in real magazine pieces not the WWW, that shotgun and ML Encores are prone to stock splitting when equipped with walnut, so if I were setting one up it’d get laminate. Worth checking out before you drop a bunch of bucks on pretty wood.
What fresh Hell is this?

So I guess the shotgun and ML barrels must swell up when fired:) Phil

This isn't the best picture, but the Encore in the pic uses a shotgun forend. 1 inch, bull barrels use the shotgun forend. I got the laminate because I heard that walnut, which would have been my preference, had cracking issues.

RTH, it was on another classifieds page. Got lucky. They seem like hens teeth!
Pappy, that's interesting...I'd imagine over-tightening and maybe not relieved enough for the barrel contour..the buttstocks will do the same when over tightened.
I did contact Boyd's. They apparently have a 1" channel. Haven't measure my 20ga barrel yet. It might work.
TenX, I will keep you in mind. Ideally I can get a stock, shotgun forend and ML forend that all match.
Boyds is looking like my best bet. Even if I have to open up a rifle forend or something.
Steve, is that a Boyd's stock?

Steve, is that a Boyd's stock? It is. I had a plastic factory forend too, and hated it. When I received the barrel from MGM, I found out that it would not fit the TC OEM forestock. I needed a replacement. I contacted Boyds and they told me I needed the shotgun foreend because the barrel was 1 inch untapered. They were quite helpful. They asked a few questions and I ordered both the forend and butt stock.
