Looks like 3or 4 suppliers in that area,LP is a simple conversion kit,as most suplliers stock NG,then sell the conversion kit.

Chatted with a friend on Friday (very dialed for a distributor)...
Commercial is in trouble (8 months kinda stuff)
Residential is pretty good to go.
If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.

Thanks, gonna call the folks that installed this one and see if its worth repairing. I know its had a small leak for years, 2 calls in 6 yrs adding maybe 2 #. I'm guessing the exchanger/burner is toast this time. Might be time to replace the unit. We have way more cooling days than heating. A more efficient unit may drop the power bill some.

How old is the unit? R-22 I assume? Definitely get three quotes if it’s suggested to be replaced. Some unscrupulous techs/companies benefit from a costly replacement over a repair.
Leaks always seem to be the justification for replacement, rather than just finding and repairing the leak.

About 13 yrs old. Has newer Freon (410?).
I understand heat exchangers are pricey plus the service call.
So far the installing dealer has been good. They are local and been in business for 50yrs. They also have been quick to show the two times we called for service.

In the process of installing this one right now. LINKNo problem getting it delivered right to the house. Commercial AC guys talk it down online a good bit. It's precharged so you can DIY if you have the capabilities of hooking up the lines and access to a vacuum pump. The ease of DIY is the biggest reason the commercial guys talk it down, you don't need them for the install. Here is the air handler I just set in place and hooked the lines up to it yesterday.

Yes. There is also a shortage of insulated flex duct.
I sure could go for some $2.50/gal gas and a mean tweet!

I own an HVAC company and we’re having a lot of trouble getting evaporator coils especially for repairs. Flex duct is a little short in supply.

You need more than a vacuum pump. To do it properly you will need also need dry nitrogen and a micron gauge.

Not sure of what it’s like right now, but 3-4 months ago you could find flex duct around here. You need more than a vacuum pump. To do it properly you will need also need dry nitrogen and a micron gauge. Who needs a micron gauge…. Turn it on and two cigarettes later you’re good!

We decided to replace it instead of repair(s). Higher SEER rating and programmable thermostat gets power company rebates.
All the stuff to fix the heating side plus labor added up to over $1200 and the evaporator coil has a leak plus it looks horrible. The estimate on all that was ugly.
My vision blanked out a little when I got the new unit estimates, told the guy to give me a day to think on it.
Checked on line and called an old school mate that retired from the business last year, he said their prices were good.
I'm thinking inflation "might" be running a little higher than the FJB admin official numbers.
Honk for Joey
