We are putting a new kitchen sink in a new countertop. The left to right cut by the backsplash needs to be A 1/2" from the splash.

What saw will do that cut the best?

Flip it over and cut iit from the bottom. If not a sawzall will do it in the right hands.

Check the sink, it should have a template. Corners should be round, not squared off or there’s a good chance the sink won’t cover your cut out.
Use a drill bit the appropriate size in all four corners then connect.

The coutertop is 11 feet long, and glued at the angle.

Tape off the cut to help keep it from splintering.

Should have clamps and glue at the mitre.

Thanks all, we may have to use a circular saw.

cut out the majority of the material then cut the remainder with the saber saw upside down from the bottom

Rotozip with a solid carbide cutter.

I would double verify fitment (use the sink template if you have one)...

Masking tape EVERYTHING that is even close to the cut... Mask the backsplash very well.

Sharpie that masking tape for your cut... as for the close cut in the back (jigsaw won't fit I assume?)... you could use a sawzall on a slight angle (taper a piece of wood (2"-3" tall) as a guide if need be... 15 degrees maybe?). I would make that cut FIRST for max stability of the cutout.

... or if it was me... I'd use a 4.5" grinder.

I use grinders for EVERYTHING... 1/32" wheels, diamond wheels, 24 grit wheels. Two of each loaded and ready to go for ANYTHING.

But not everybody feels comfortable with grinders.

You need an oscillating saw as said above. Replaces most tools in a pinch.

That would work too...

Turn it upside down and cut it with a circular saw AFTER using the template to mark and triple check correctness. drill holes at four corners of cut first, then use circular saw to cut to holes. Use a jigsaw with upcuttimg blade to finish. Be sure cutout and countertop are supported to avoid breakage from cutout falling away prematurely.

Alternatively, one can mark the top in place, use a downcutting jigsaw blade to cut three sides, then a cutoff wheel, grinder, or reciprocating or flush cut saw to cut the back edge. The cut direction(pulling up or pushing down) of blade teeth on any tool is important to avoid chipping the laminate. When cutting the bottom side with the top upside down, the circular saw, an upcutting design, works, pulling up into the laminate at the surface. With the top right side up, this same tool is likely to chip the edge of the cut, so a tool that cuts down from the top is a better choice. Not saying one cannot tape the cut and get by with it, just that other options are more desirable.

Multi-tool or oscillating saw... whatever you.want to call it.
If its a straight cut, and this will be an unpopular opinion. Hand saw.

keyhole saw

Wabi you can use the circular saw. Tape the cut lines as Jack said and use a fine tooth blade in the saw. Corners can be cut with the jigsaw, use very fine blades like metal cutting blades. Don’t overpush ok either saw just let them work.
