I'm looking to mount a scope on a new to me M70. I prefer to use a mounting system with an integral base & ring setup. On my DBM rifles, I've had good luck with the DNZ one piece mounts, but since this is a top loading rifle, I prefer to have as much room in the bolt area as possible, so I'm going to install a 2 piece integral mount. I've never had any problems out of Talley LWs. I've never tried the Leupold Backcountry mounts, mostly because they are about 2x the cost of the similar DNZs or Talley LWs. Are there other manufacturers with 2 piece integral mounts that I should look at? Or just stick with the Talley LWs?

If you like Talleys stick with em. Dual dovetails are nice as well.

I use a lot of Warne bases and Leupold or Warne lightweight rings.

The Leupold Backcountry are more money but they seem a bit stouter. Could be between my ears though.

Zero issues with Talleys thus far, up to .30/06, and scopes up to maybe 20oz. I don’t over-crank on them, and they’ve never slipped on me. Obviously, they’re not the best choice if you like to swap scopes around or want to have a backup optic easily available. Never scratched a scope tube with them either.

I run Talley's on about anything. I do have several sets of the alloy version that Remington makes for their model 700's that are like Talley's. I dont buy many Remingtons any more though

Me as well, the Remington seem pretty stout. Never had a problem with talleys though, even on a 340 Wby or my ulw 300 Wby.

DNZ makes the Game Reaper 2 which is a 2 piece base for the M70 in the 4 screw per ring configuration. This leaves the action open unlike the 1 piece with the bar across. Nice thick rings with a lot of threads per screw. About as simple and strong as a 2 piece base can be.

I'm pretty impressed with the Leupold Back Country one piece mounts. Both sets used were excellent.

Good shootin' -Al

Yup, supposedly they're a better grade than Talley's but don't hold me to that. I know they work well though for my uses.
