Anyone here have G2 contender carbine with wood furniture, in 30-30 setup with a peep and front sight? If so, how do you like it? I know it’s kind of a niche setup, but I always wanted one. Anyone have any leads where I could get one? Skinner builds peep setups ready to be installed on a TC. I may would even have a barrel cut down to 20-21” and have a fiber optic front sight installed.

Thanks!

Um, I went the opposite direction....

But it is a 20" 30-30. It's great for deer with a can.

I’ve been contemplating similar but with a low power fixed scope.

That is my backup plan, in case my eyes don’t work real well with the peep.

Also, what would be a fair price on one nowadays? I know what they used to cost new, but haven’t looked into the value of used one in a while.
Thanks

Timely thread, though not in the guise of what the OP suggested, I have an itch to put together a suppressed .30-30 Contender with a bright but low powered scope. I'll be following this to see how the conversation unfolds.

20" barrel, Gemtech Tracker, Trijicon 1-4x didn't suck this year.

I had one, but shot with optics.

To be honest, the rifle shot so poorly accuracy wise (and I tried ALLOT of different combos), that I sold it!

I was very disappointed in the G2!

My older 1990’s G1 Contender carbine shoots great!

T/C barrel?

FWIW mine's an SSK. Shoots great.

Nice rifle goalie.

I found a G2 contender, with a SS .223 barrel. I bought it. Love the feel. Now, just got to find a blued 30-30 barrel. If anyone have any leads, shoot me a message!

I think I have decided to go the same route. Thinking either a Leupold 2.5 ultralight or find a FX II 4x for a compact setup.

Thanks

I have a G2 Contender chambered for 7.62x35R. It was chambered for 125 grain bullets or lighter. I am currently loading some 110 grain V-max over 5 grains of Trail Boss and shooting it through a 36M suppressor. It is quiet... The stock was made by Bullberry and is really good looking walnut. I really like shooting this contender.

I have one with an M8 4x on it. Great little deer carbine.

G2 in 375 Winchester carbine with wood stocks. Kinda hits hard on both ends.

What's the consensus in handling differences between the G1 and G2 contenders? Are the G1s significantly lighter? Asking for the kids....

No noticeable difference. Slightly thicker spot on the g2 frame, and the ability to let the hammer down and re cock without breaking the action open. I use my g1 for pistol barrels and my g2 for carbine barrels.
