John:
I loved (and will put to good use) your article of loading for the older 12 gauges. Would you please consider doing a similar article about loading for the older 2-5/8 and 2-7/8 inch 10 gauge guns?
Thanks.

Pretty small potential audience….
Have you looked for stuff online? Ross Seyfried has used a 10ga quite a bit IIRC.
What fresh Hell is this?

I have a 1931 LC Smith in 20 gauge. A 1946 16 ga and a 1941 12 ga. Love my Elsies. Instead of loading my own I use RST ammo specifically made for vintage guns. Shot the 20 last week on quail and brought down 36 of em with their 2 1/2” #8 load. Good company. They also have duck loads.

You might have a quicker response to gathering data if you could lend a shotgun and maybe some components for MD to use. It might be a little expensive to start from the ground up for a such a small audience.
It may work out that an article will magically appear if you get to the point of actually making the proposal. I know it worked for me as MD put out an article on the 6mm Lee/Navy just as I thought of trying that on him. I did have to buy the relavent Gun Gack volume as the magazine cut the load data out of the article.

Rem Glad you'll get good use out of the article! I proposed a shorter-shell 10-gauge article, but doubt will get a go-ahead on it. As somebody else already stated, probably very few readers interested--especially compared to 12-gauge info. But if I do get the green light, will let you know.

Actually that would be a cool kind of "myth busters" thing. We all send money to John and he does experiments and load development outside of having to work for magazines...

the 401 sl would be valuable info for sure A few years back, Mike Venturino did an article on the Winchester 1907 and the 351 WSL cartridge. He made an observation/statement regarding Accurate 5744 powder which seems to work for the 401 WSL cartridge too. It worked in my 1910 for a few rounds but it will take a bit more experimenting before I feed it to the Clement-Neumann. For the latter I'll stick with 4227.
